Why are you studying journalism?
“I didn't really know what I wanted to major in, but I really enjoyed writing in high school. I think my love for writing, and I really admire the journalist's ability to listen and tell other people's stories, and be kind of a representation for people that might not necessarily be able to say it themselves. Initially, it was kind of random. But now I feel like it's definitely a good choice for me to listen, and share ideas and news.”
What objects in your dorm represent your identity or home life?
“The Lego bouquet means a lot to me, and it's kind of dumb, but whatever. I would say definitely my nightstand, but more specifically the books on them, because I had them at home. All my journals, and all my books, those are all from home. My plants over there, two of them are not in the best condition, but they remind me of my mom because she loves planting. I can’t have candles here, but I’m a big candle person. I like my room to have a scent because it makes me happier, so I have a scent thing plugged into the wall and I feel more at home.”
What are you struggling with?
“Definitely, time management is the largest one. Everyone goes through that, but I think it is hard. It’s a lot more work, and then you want to be able to build your resume and have all these insane clubs. But at the same time, take care of yourself. I'm trying to be less stressed because it's just been really eye opening, that anxiety can have physical effects on people, on me. So many different mental health issues have physical effects on people. And I think we don't talk about that very often.”
