BUCTCC Hanfu Runway Event
"BU community members gathered at the Tsai Performance Center for the Chinese Traditional Clothing Club (CTCC) Runway Fashion Show February 5. With Chinese musical accompaniment, and the theme of the four seasons, students, among them Harvard University’s Yidi (Edie) Li, danced and sang. CTCC is an advocacy group promoting Han clothing and movements and traditional cultural heritage."​​

Drag Queen Show
"Boston area drag queen Candace Persuasian (above), along with fellow performers Linda Mariposa, aka Rodrigo Mendoza Lee (COM’16), and Just JB, wowed an enthusiastic audience at Morse Auditorium November 10. The evening of dazzling performances, with the audience responding to trivia questions about reproductive and sexual health during intermission, was sponsored by Boston University Students for Reproductive Freedom. Proceeds benefited the Eastern Massachusetts Abortion Fund."

Professional Clothing Closet Fall Fashion Show
"Daija Miller (COM’26), one of seven models showing at the BU Professional Clothing Closet’s second annual fashion show November 2, takes the catwalk to the beat of “Barbie Girl” by Aqua. The night of fashion, which also provided seasonal refreshments and networking opportunities with student organizations and campus resources focused on sustainability and DEI, encouraged the University community to browse through the closet’s selections of business and professional attire. The Professional Clothing Closet is a free and sustainable resource for all BU students."

The Face of Puerto Rico
"Liani Diaz (Questrom’26) (right) seems to enjoy having her face painted with the Puerto Rican flag by Melissa Molina (CAS’25) at the LatinX Community Reception. Held on September 12, it was another of the 2023 Howard Thurman Center for Common Ground Affinity Receptions, where students can learn about various groups, meet their members, and enjoy traditional foods and board games."

A Night of Lights
"One of the most popular of this semester’s myriad Weeks of Welcome events was the September 8 Night of Lights, held on the BU Beach. Beginning just after sunset, students spent the evening in this enchanting realm, decorating a phosphorescent drawing board and playing lawn games. The glow-in-the-dark swings beckoned to many, among them Emily Wang (COM’26) (left) and Kriya Patel (ENG’26)."

A Nite for Dancing
"Sowmya Sury (CGS’23) (left) and Simar Kamboj (CAS’25) (center), members of BU’s Bhangra dance team, perform during Punjabi Nite, April 9. Hosted by Sikh Association at BU, the event, held in the GSU Metcalf Ballroom, was a celebration of the vibrant Punjabi culture. The menu included traditional cuisine and performances by BU Bhangra and the Vakhri Taur Diyan dance team. The evening ended with a packed ballroom of students dancing to music provided by DJ Randeep."

Fashion & Retail hosts Gardenia
"Reeya Mathur (Questrom’25) takes the runway during the BU Fashion & Retail Association’s spring fashion show, titled “Gardenia,” held April 1 at the Metcalf Trustee Center at Questrom School of Business. The annual show this year featured work by 32 student designers who were asked to create looks inspired by the word “gardenia.” Mathur’s outfit was designed by Anabelle Pinkston (Questrom’23). The event also featured products for sale by local retailers and a piano performance by Yash Subrahmanyam (Pardee’23) during the show’s intermission."

The Fabrio Magazine Fashion Show
"Kennedi Young (CFA’26) poses with a custom denim gown designed by Chessie Ross (CAS’24) for the finale of Fabrio magazine’s fashion show, March 19, at Tsai Performance Center. The sustainable fashion magazine and student club launched at BU in early 2022. During the fashion show, models wore clothes designed and/or styled entirely by students, who worked with vintage and thrifted clothing to create new pieces. Proceeds benefitted the Charles River Conservancy. Fabrio’s inaugural issue, titled “Detox,” is scheduled to be published later this spring."

BTS Off the Cuff Magazine

The Beacon’s Anti-Valentines Open Mic

"The Beacon, which bills itself as a “social literary journal which thrives on the imagination of Boston University’s finest writers,” holds open mic events several times a semester. At its latest, Anti-Valentines Open Mike Night, held February 12 at CAS, Jada Bautista (CAS’26), reciting her piece “Cigarettes,” was among the students performing their poems, short stories, and spoken word pieces ahead of the release of the spring 2023 Beacon edition."

"To prepare for the joyous Christmas season and for Marsh Chapel’s 49th Service of Lessons and Carols, members of the Chapel community gathered on December 8 for the traditional Hanging of the Greens, where they hung wreaths, arranged holly, and decorated a Christmas tree before enjoying some Christmas cookies and singing a few Christmas carols. Marsh Chapel Choir soprano Casey Crawford was among those decorating before the choir rehearsed for the next night’s Lessons and Carols."
